Iceland Ring Road Tour
Iceland is a country full of geological contrasts best visible in the South where glacial cold and geothermal heat meet. We will drive from the Southwest and the Golden Circle Area, through the wildest lands of East and North of isle, until the stunning Snæfellsnes Peninsula that is well known as the Little Iceland! We will hike the largest glacier of Europe, Vatnajökull, and sail the glacier lagoon among huge icebergs; its wild countryside is the best place of the island to hunt for Northern Lights in autumn and winter, instead in the summer time we will explore the amazingly colored Rainbow Mountains one of the wildest place of inner Iceland. Furthermore, we will admire breathtaking waterfalls and amazing black sand beaches where, with a little luck, we might meet funny Puffin birds. All these incredible places covering the almost 3000 km along the legendary RIng Road!

Tour Details
Day 1 – Arrival in Reykjavik
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your centrally located hotel in Reykjavik. You will have some free time to enjoy a first glance of the capital before heading to enjoy your welcome dinner. Night in Reykjavik
Day 2 – Golden Circle
Today will start our tour along the famous ring road; the first stop will be at Thingvellir national park, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, considered a national treasure in Iceland. There was established in 930 AD the first the national parliament of Iceland and the oldest one in the world. Thingvellir is situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. The site provides a unique opportunity to observe the effects of continental drift as the plates are slowly moving.
Afterwards we will see the unmissable geological phenomena of Geysir that blast every 4 minutes, and the breathtaking Gullfoss Waterfall. In the late afternoon we will stop at Kerid Volcano Lake, volcanic crater lake formed about 6,500 years ago. Time permitting we will visit a goat farm on the way. Night in Hella/Vik
Day 3 – Colored Mountains
Today we will have an exciting excursion to Landmannalaugar to see the Rainbow Mountains, an area known for its colorful mountains that showcase a mix of vibrant colours, including shades of red, yellow, green, blue, and purple that are a result of different minerals present in the rocks, such as iron, sulfur, and volcanic ash creating the colorful spectacle that attracts photographers, hikers from around the world. We will visit also Lava fields, Hekla Volcano and a natural Hot Spring for bathing. Night in Hella/Vik
Day 4 – Skogafoss and the Black Beach
This morning we will visit an iconic waterfalls complex on different levels: the Skogafoss waterfall famous for its rainbows and another hidden waterfalls, where we can walk inside and behind the waterfall! It’s an amazing place. On the way we will stop at Solheimasandur: in 1973 a United States Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur in the South Coast of Iceland. The plane wreck is still visible, and you will stop there for a nice picture. On the way to Vik we will stop at the amazing Dyrhólaey Viewpoint Rocky Arch and Reynisfjara Beach “the blackest sand beach of the world”, one of the most spectacular of Iceland. Rising out of the sand are amazing cliffs formed of basalt columns. With a little bit of luck, you can see the Puffin Birds. In the late afternoon you will reach Hofn, a charming fishing town. Day 5 – Skaftafell and Glacier Lagoon
Today we will have a lot of breathtaking experiences among the most suggestive in Iceland. Skaftafell National Park: You will get the opportunity of a lifetime to enjoy the Iceland’s largest Glacier in Iceland Vatnajökull. To make this day even more adventurous you will go on a glacier hiking tour; on winter you will have the opportunity to go into and underneath the glacier and experience the glacier’s beauty from the inside and explore the Blue Ice Cave (only in winter season), you will be able to walk inside this dazzling structure to see the fantastic blue ice found within. Time permitting we will visit the Svartifoss waterfall just inside the Skaftafell National Park. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon: We will enjoy an amazing, guided mini cruise in a natural lagoon formed as a result of the retreat of glacier Vatnajökull; Jökulsárlón is renowned for its floating icebergs, which break off from the nearby glacier and gradually make their way into the lagoon. The icebergs vary in size, shape, and color, creating a mesmerizing sight. We will have quick walk to the nearby Diamond Beach: another remarkable sight to see. It features black volcanic sand adorned with glistening ice chunks that have washed ashore from the lagoon. Glacier equipment is included in the experience. Night in Hofn/Egilsstaðir
Day 6 – Stuðlagi Canyon
Today you will visit the town of Seyðisfjörður famous for its colorful wooden houses, a charming harbor, and the Blue Lutheran Church; This iconic building stands out with its vibrant blue color and for the rainbow path in front of it. Afterwards we will drive towards Stuðlagil Canyon, a stunning basalt column canyon located in the eastern part of Iceland, near the Jökulsá á Dal River. It is known for its striking blue-colored rock formations and dramatic landscapes. In the afternoon we will have a quick visit to a typical farm with its Icelandic Torba old houses, and the we will relax to Myvatn Geothermal Bath. Night in Myvatn Lake/Akureyri
Day 7 – Myvatn Lake
In the morning we will visit Myvatn Geothermal Area and the its Volcanic Craters such as Viti Crater Lake; stop of the day will be the magnificent Dettifoss waterfall, the most powerful in Europe. The spray of this gigantic natural feature can be seen far before you reach the falls itself. On the road to Akureyri “Capital of the North” we will have a quick stop at the waterfall Goðafoss. This is a historically famous site in which the old idols of the pagan religion were cast into the water as an act of fealty towards the Christian faith. Night in Myvatn Lake/Akureyri
Day 8 – Whale Watching Cruise
In the morning we can explore the nice town of Akureyri. From here you will catch a whale watching tour. You will hop aboard a boat in the local harbour and head out to spot these gentle giants. In the afternoon we will leave towards Stykkishólmur in the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and on the road time permitting we will have a couple of stops to see some waterfall or breathtaking beach on the road. Night in Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Day 9 – Snaefellsnes Peninsula
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is known as “Iceland in Miniature” due to its plethora of natural attractions, including snow-peaked mountains, tumbling waterfalls, black sand beaches and, of course, the incredible glacier and volcano, Snæfellsjökull. Without a doubt, Snæfellsnes is one of the most memorable and beautiful regions in the entire country. One of the peninsula’s most iconic sites is the ‘mountain like an arrowhead’, Kirkjufell, made famous from Season 7 of HBO’s Game of Thrones. The mountain reaches a height of 463-metres and is often captured alongside its resident waterfall, Kirkjufellsfoss. We can also visit time permitting the iconic Black Church or an amazing cave in the Snæfellsjökull National Park. Night in Borgarnes
Day 10 – Reykholtsdalur Valley
Today first stop in the Reykholtsdalur Valley. This is a place that demonstrates the powerful geothermal forces that have shaped Iceland. This area is the home of Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver. In the afternoon we can visit a farm of typical Icelandic Horses and time permitting it is possible to enjoy a horse ride. Night in Reykjavik
Day 11 – Reykjavik
In the morning we will have a guided tour to discover the secrets of Reykjavik and its hidden gems, following we will visit the Open air Museum just outside of the capital (In case of rain we can visit Perlan Museum). In the late afternoon/evening we will have a food walk tour to discover the culinary traditions of Iceland in the best local market and restaurants. In case of bad weather conditions, alternatively we will have a farewell typical Icelandic dinner. Night in Reykjavik
Day 12 – Sky Lagoon and transfer to Reykjavik Airport
This morning before to reach the airport to catch our flight we will enjoy some hour of relax at natural hot springs of the Sky Lagoon surrounded by a breathtaking landscapes. Afterwards we will be transferred to the airport for our back home flight. Night in Reykjavik
