About our photographer Gabriele Menis:
Italian professional photographer since 2006, he has specialized in naturalistic and wild animals shooting as well as sport events photography. His passion for northern Europe and winter destinations drove him to become a true Aurora Borealis "hunter". Furthermore Gabriele works as outdoor reporter for several Italian newspapers and magazines and is a certified CPS photographer (Canon Professional Services). He can speak Italian and English.

Passport with at least six months of validity is mandatory; One Life Journeys does not provide any service and assistance related visa requirements and processing.
We highly recommend purchasing a personal travel insurance at the time of booking.
Flexibility: Possibility to change dates, or tour until 75 days before departure (a supplement cost might be requested during high season, or for flight quotations if requested)

Tour Details
Day 1 – Arrival in Ivalo, Transfer to Saariselka, Photo Briefing
Upon arrival in Ivalo, you will be picked up at the airport by your driver guide and transferred to Saariselka. Upon your arrival, you will be provided with your thermo-clothes, included for the whole duration of the tour. You will have a photographic briefing with Gabriele, the professional photographer, who will be with you throughout the tour. After the welcome dinner, you will go “hunting” for the Northern Lights. Night in Saariselka
Day 2 – Visit a Reindeer Farmhouse and 1st Photo Master Class
Today you have the chance to meet reindeers at a local farmhouse where you will learn all about those animals and the way they are bred. In the afternoon, you’ll have your first photographic master class with Gabriele where you will learn how to photograph in a night environment with special focus on the Aurora Borealis. After dinner, you will go on another “hunt” for Northern Lights. Night in Saariselka
Day 3 – Snowmobile Safari and 2nd Photo Master Class
This morning, you will be taken to a 2-hour snowmobile excursion to explore the magnificent Finnish forests and its wild animals. Snowmobiles carry up to two people so you can have the chance to try to drive them! In the afternoon, after some rest, you’ll have your second photographic workshop with Gabriele. You will learn more about the technique of taking photos at night time. After dinner, you will then go hunting for the magic “blue hour”, a particular time of the day when the landscape turns blue due to the shadow and the dusk. Night in Saariselka
Day 4 – Husky Safari, Ivalo, and Final Photographic Briefing
Last day but not least! Today you will experience something really unique: dog sledding! Let the huskies guide you through snowy forests and an unforgettable landscape! We will also enjoy a homemade lunch in a Lappish-style hut surrounded by huskies. You will then be transferred to Ivalo where you will spend your last night in an igloo. After the farewell dinner and a final briefing about the photo master class, there will be time to take some last pictures of the Northern Lights. Night in Ivalo
Day 5 – Transfer to Ivalo Airport or Extension to Helsinki
Today you will be transferred to Ivalo airport to catch your flight back home or you will start your extension to Helsinki
Extension to Helsinki
Day 1 – Flight to Helsinki
Upon your arrival in Helsinki you will be transferred to your centrally located hotel in Helsinki by a private driver. Night in Helsinki
Day 2 – Helsinki tour
This morning your local guide will meet you in the lobby of the hotel and bring you on a walking tour of Helsinki with some special tastings. You will have time to explore on your own in the afternoon. Night in Helsinki
Day 3 – Transfer to Helsinki airport
Today you will be transferred to Helsinki airport to catch your flight back home.
